La Leona Waterfall Hike

This is a private tour that takes you on an intimate adventure to the hidden La Leona Waterfall. The journey involves a moderate 2-hour hike alongside the beautiful blue waters of Rio Blanco, deep in the canyons of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. Your local guide will help you spot wildlife along the way.

Exploration

You’ll follow a shaded path, passing by five different pools, and traveling through a stone canyon, caves, and small waterfalls. The trail leads to the entrance of the canyon that takes you to La Leona Waterfall. You’ll store your belongings in a dry bag, and then take a short swim to reach the waterfall. There’s a stone beach in front of the waterfall for photo opportunities, and you can also enjoy a refreshing splash in the pool.

The trail is suitable for intermediate hikers and has rocks and roots. If you have questions about the trail’s difficulty, feel free to contact us. Lifejackets are provided for the swimming part.

Costa Rican Lunch

After the hike, you’ll be driven back for a hearty Costa Rican-style lunch. We offer various dietary options, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan choices.
