How does tipping work?
Consider tipping between 15% and 20% based on your satisfaction level. Please note that tipping should not be based on how many fish you catch. Even if the Captain and crew work really hard to find fish and try different tactics, sometimes the fish just aren’t in the mood to bite, and it’s not the fault of the crew.
Our Captains understand that you expect a great fishing experience, and they’ll do their best to make it happen. However, fishing can be unpredictable, and some days the fish are simply not very active. We usually have more successful days, but like anywhere else, slow fishing days can happen. Please don’t blame your Captain and Crew for those slow days.

What should you wear and bring while deep sea fishing in Costa Rica?
You’re fishing in the tropics, the sun is strong and the vibes are salty! Here’s what we recommend bringing:

Where can I get my fishing license?
In Costa Rica, it’s a requirement for anyone planning to fish to obtain their own fishing license. This can be easily acquired through the Incopesca website at www.incopesca.go.cr. The license costs $17 USD per person for 8 days and can be purchased online in advance from Incopesca.
What do we do with our fish? Can we keep what we catch?
All Billfish caught on our boats will be carefully released while still alive at the boat side to maximize their chances of survival. Edible species like Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Snapper, and others will be expertly filleted by our crew onboard at no extra cost. If you wish, we can also recommend one of our partner restaurants where they will be happy to prepare your fresh catch for you at a reasonable price. Alternatively, we can also arrange for a chef to come to your house and prepare the fish for you.

What’s the difference between a half-day, ¾ day, and full-day fishing charter?
We offer three fishing trip options meeting at 7h00 & departing right from the beach in Tamarindo at 7:15 AM:
Half-Day (5 Hours) – Inshore Action
Perfect for families or guests who want to stay closer to shore while still catching great fish! We’ll fish reefs and submerged rock structures for snapper, amberjack, grouper, and may run into small dorado, tuna, mackerel, and more.
¾ Day (7 Hours) – Offshore Action
Great if you want a shot at offshore species like mahi-mahi or tuna, but without being on the water all day. This trip gives you time to explore deeper waters and catch dinner.
Full-Day (9 Hours) – Offshore Adventure
Ready to chase billfish like sailfish and marlin? A full-day trip is the way to go. We run offshore for up to an hour before lines go in and have time to target pelagic species and fill the cooler with meat fish. Can also target mahi-mahi, tuna, & wahoo.
Where do we meet for the fishing tour?
All our fishing tours depart from Tamarindo beach infront of the restaurant El Chiringuito, right in front of our boats. Meeting time is 7:00 AM sharp, and we depart at 7:15 AM.
